Refurbished Computers

To keep the price of a new computer down, you might consider a refurbished computer.  These are computers that were usually leased to companies and when the lease is over they are taken back, re-imaged to their factory settings, double checked for any problems and then resold through online or local resellers.

I have had customers purchase these before and none have had any problem with the computers.  They normally come with a short term warranty and sometimes you can purchase an extended warranty for a few dollars.

These machines are just basic Windows computers with no extra bloatware added.  They are not high end machines that are appropriate for gaming or heavy computing, but if all you need is a good machine for some word processing and web surfing, one of these could save you some money.

The refurbished machines that I have seen are mostly desktop models so if you want to add more memory or a better video card, you can easily do that.
